In this article, Dr. Harikiran who is one of the best hair transplant surgeon in Hyderabad will be discussing the common methods of hair transplant along with their benefits & risks. He will also discuss about the cost of hair transplant in Hyderabad, India.Hair transplantation is the removal of hair from one section of the body, known as the donor site, and transplanting it to a balding part of the body, known as the recipient site. It’s a procedure that’s evolved steadily over the last 200 years, from a very primitive technique to a more modern hair transplant technique. However, it wasn’t until the 1930s that the modern age of hair transplantation emerged, demonstrating the use of hair grafts and hair-bearing skin flaps for hair transplantation.

Currently there are two major techniques used for hair transplant in India.

Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT)

FUT is a hair transplant strip procedure. A longitudinal strip of hair is removed from the donor area of the scalp and implanted in the recipient region. Under a stereo microscope, the strip containing hair follicles is dissected and separated into grafts of 1-3 follicles. These grafts are then inserted into the recipient’s incisions. A maximum of 2000 grafts can be planted in the recipient region in a single session.

What Are the Benefits of Using FUT?

  • New hair growth has a natural

What Are the Risks Of FUT?

What-Are-the-Risks-Of-FUT

  • Recovery is a long
  • The scalp has a limited donor
  • Numbness is present around the donor
  • The donor area where the strip is extracted leaves a longitudinal

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

Follicular-Unit-Extraction

FUE is a hair transplant technique in which a single or a group of hair follicles, known as a follicular unit (which may include up to four hairs), is extracted one by one with a microneedle or a punch with a diameter of less than 1 mm. It’s taken from the part of the body where hair grows the fastest. The grafts or follicular units are then transplanted into the balding region of the scalp. It is one of the most common but time-consuming hair transplant techniques.

Due to a new collection of surgical skills and a shortage of equipment to remove entire follicular modules, FUE was not so popular initially. However, thanks to advancements in medical science, FUE is now one of the most common hair transplant methods. Patients who have had both procedures prefer FUE transplantation because it is less traumatic and results in fewer scars.

FUE-was-created-in-response

FUE was created in response to the major downside of the FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) technique, which was scarring in the donor region. Grafts are removed using a small micro punch in Follicular Unit Extraction, preventing a linear strip scar. As a result, the risk of long-term nerve damage in the donor region, resulting in permanent numbness and pain, is substantially lower with FUE than with FUT. Furthermore, when the scalp is too tight for a strip excision, FUE is a viable option to FUT. A hair transplant surgeon may also harvest finer hair from the nape to use at the hairline or for eyebrows.

What Are the Benefits of Using FUE?

  • After treatment, there are no noticeable wounds (no stitches).
  • If done correctly, there would be very little scalp damage. There is no hair thinning due to shock

  • The healing process is relaxing and takes less time (days instead of months).
  • There is little or no discomfort during or after a hair
  • The procedure is performed under local
  • Since hair follicles are removed from healthy areas of the scalp that are immune to hair loss during the FUE procedure, the results are permanent.

What Are the Risks of FUE?

  • Redness in the donor region will last up to a month, but it will fade as your hair grows out. It must not result in infection; if it does, contact your hair transplant surgeon
  • Hair transplant patients have been known to experience post-operative hiccups in rarest
